CIAC 29th Annual Charity Dinner
The Chinese Information and Advice Centre’s (CIAC) 29th Annual Charity Dinner held on Friday, 11th Nov 2011 at China Palace was another big success thanks to the generous support of the local community. With the help of our 250 guests, a total of approx £ 13,000.00 was raised through ticket sales, raffles and auction proceeds to help the Centre’s charitable activities to our Chinese community.
Mr Edmond Yeo, the chair of CIAC and the Organising Committee Chairman Mr Jeffrey Kwan welcomed the guests to the dinner and expressed the Centre’s gratitude for the support and generous sponsorships by the local community. Mr Les Hardie of Rosewheel Property Ltd, the landlord of CIAC was also thanked for their support of the centre, activities and work in the community.
Chinese Embassy First Secretary and Consul Mr Zhao Lei also made a short address to support the work that CIAC has been doing.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the certificates of appreciation to the Met Police London Chinatown Unit. (See Photo2)
The entertainment included a “Tai-chi” presentation by Master Tang, Pipa by Ms Liting Cai, Erhu by Mr Daniel Spalding, rap by Mr Rui Jing, songs by Ms Grace Lee and of course the saxophone played by the young and talented Master John Tan.
There are exciting raffle of items including Dinner Vouchers from Manchurian Legend, Dumpling Legend, Ikkyusan Hot Pot, Sushi ga ga, China Palace, New Fook Lam Moon and Kopitiam. Auction items also included 2 bicycle helmets which were personally autographed by the Mayor of London Mr Boris Johnson.
All the guests left the dinner happily with a goody bag of real goodies each which were sponsored by See Woo supermarket, Lyca Mobile, Malaysia Tourism Office, New China Gate and the China Daily.
CIAC was established in 1982 and provides legal advice and support to disadvantaged Chinese people living in the UK. Our main services include immigration advice, refugees and asylum seekers’ support, women’ support including children victims of domestic violence and information and partnership services.
華人資料及諮詢中心(CIAC)第29屆年度慈善晚宴
CIAC第29屆年度慈善晚宴,於2011年11月11日(星期五)在中國皇宮舉行,是另一得到社會各界朋友慷慨支持的盛事。250位賓客,通過門票銷售、抽獎和拍賣共為中心籌得約£13,000.00。
CIAC主席楊慶權先生,和籌備委員會主席關文光先生分別向來賓致歡迎詞,並對社會各界的支持和慷慨贊助表示感謝。CIAC房東玫瑰輪 (Rosewheel Limited) 產房業主管Les Hardie 先生也為他對社區活動和工作的支持而受到表揚。
中國大使館一等秘書和領事趙磊先生也做了簡短賀詞,以支持CIAC一直在做的工作。
當晚的重頭戲是向倫敦大都會警察唐人街小組頒發嘉許狀 (見图二)。
而表演節目包括唐光影師傅的陳式太極、蔡麗婷小姐的琵琶、丹尼爾·斯伯丁先生的二胡、李西湄小姐的歌曲及繞舌歌手荊瑞; 當然還有年輕天才色士風手陳運龍。
有激動人心的抽獎活動項目,當中包括由東北風雲,餃子傳奇,Ikkyusan涮火鍋,壽司 GA GA,中國皇宮,福臨門和Kopitiam贊助的餐券。而拍賣物品還包括2個由倫敦市長鮑里斯·約翰遜先生親筆簽名的自行車頭盔。
客人最後拿著泗和行、Lyca電訊、Citarasa有限公司、馬來西亞旅遊局及China Daily報社贊助的福袋愉快地離開晚宴。
