Women's Support

We are dedicated to helping Chinese women and families who are struggling or in distress. Much of our work focuses on helping Chinese women who have been victims of domestic violence, but we also help women access the support they need on a variety of different issues, from parenting to welfare benefits.

Out of fear of “losing face” or being the subject of gossip, many Chinese women find it difficult to approach relatives or friends for help on sensitive issues, such as domestic violence or marital problems. This is why we are always careful to protect confidentiality and to respect each woman’s ability to make her own decisions.

For more information, please speak to our women's support worker on: 08453 131 868 ext. 211
Please leave a message when she is not available to take your call. Drop-in Service: Mondays & Wednesdays 2pm - 5pm.

  •  Raising awareness

Raising awareness of domestic violence and women’s issues continues throughout the year. CIAC's women's workers provide workshops in schools and community centres as well as providing training for professionals working with Chinese women and victims of domestic violence.

CIAC helped develop the Chinese version of the Westminster Domestic Violence Forum’s multilingual website (Click here)

CIAC has been featured as a model agency in Westminster Domestic Violence Forum’s Good Practice Guidelines. We take an active part in forums and conferences on domestic violence and are proud to be a part of a multilingual consortium called “Women Together Against Abuse” which was established in collaboration with four other Black Minority Ethnic Refugee (BMER) women organizations in 2008.

  • How you can help

We need up to 10 volunteers every year to assist women and children who are victims of domestic violence. If you can help please click here for more information.

CIAC’s Women’s Support Project is part of the consortium called 'Women Together Against Abuse'. Other organisations include Asian Women's Resource Centre, IKWRO, IMECE and LAWRS. This consortium is funded by London Councils.
